India is full of incredible tourist places. Starting from a romantic destination to a family holiday to solo trips to holy places there is a long list of places but there are some destinations which are underrated but are actually a gem of India.
There are some holy places in India which are mysterious and even science has failed to solve the mystery. Today I am going to tell you about one such place- Jwala Devi Temple.
Located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh Jwala Devi temple is dedicated to Hindu goddess Jwala. it is probably the most ancient Temple in India as it is also mentioned in the epic Mahabharata and other scriptures. and unlike any other temples there is no Idol or image but instead, a constantly burning blue flame is worshipped.
The Mysterious fact is that this flame is burning since time immemorial. Despite much scientific research, the reason behind the flame could not be found out.
The story behind Jwalaji Temple –
According to the Hindu mythology, Sati the wife of Lord Shiva Immolated when her father disrespected Lord Shiva. and in his rage Lord Shiva performed the Tandava dance with Sati’s body on his shoulder.
Seeing this the Gods called upon Lord Vishnu to restore Lord Shiva to calm. Lord Vishnu with his Sudarshan Chakra (spinning disk, like weapon ) dissembled Sati’s body.
And Lord Shiva was restored to calm. The Chakra cut Sati’s body into 51 pieces and they fell on Earth on different places.
And these places came to known as Shakti Peeth.
It is believed that Sati’s tongue fell at the place where Jawala Devi temple is located.
This temple is believed to be built by a king Raja Bhoomi Chandra. And later the Pandavas did the renovation work.
The blue flame of Jwala Devi temple is burning flawlessly. Nobody has any knowledge of its history. Some people say it could be due to a reserve of natural gas but that too could not have been validated.
Also, Akbar once tried to extinguish the flame but could not succeed.
During the 70s the Government of India appointed a foreign company under Nehru Ji supervision. they tried to explore the possibilities of a reservoir of natural gas but they could not find anything like that.
So it can be rightly said that there is surely some other phenomena which are beyond the explanation of scientists and geologists.
everything cannot be verified or explained on the principles and fundamentals of Science and that is why it is often said –
” Where the thinking boundary of Science ends the reason of spirituality begins. “
