Kuldhara is an abandoned village in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. Kuldhara is a Heritage site in Rajasthan almost 18 km from the beautiful city of Jaisalmer Rajasthan.this abandoned village Kuldhara was established around the 13th century and was once a prosperous village Inhabited by the Paliwal Brahmins. As we entered this abandoned village we see no human existence and the vegetation is minimal. The afternoon’s fiery sun and a scary silence all around make it more mysterious and weird place.
Why did this prosperous place turn into a Spooky one?
The story of this abandoned village of Kuldhara dates back to 1800s when it was the home of Paliwal Brahmins. according to the stories and beliefs, Salim Singh was the head or minister of the state at that time. He imposed heavy taxes on The villagers. One day while visiting Kuldhara Salim Singh’s eyes fell upon the chief’s beautiful daughter and he wanted to marry her.He threatened the villages that if they refused him he would levy exaggerated taxes on them. The chief of the village refused his offer and with adjoining 84 villages decided to leave behind Kuldhara and migrate to another place. interesting point Is that no one saw them leaving and the question is still in everyone’s mind that how could So many villagers could vanish in a single night. Well, another reason for migration could be the heavy taxes but “who doesn’t love A Pinch of mystery and romance?” So this angle of the story of the abandoned village of Kuldhara makes it more popular!
It is believed that while leaving, the Paliwal Brahmins Cursed the town that no one would ever be able to settle in Kuldhara. abandoned and Cursed village of Kuldhara is still a mystery to everyone. Kuldhara today is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India as a Heritage site.

To reach Kuldhara you first have to reach Jaisalmer.
By Air- Jaisalmer Airport ( 5km from city)
By Train – 2 km away from the city is Jaisalmer’s Railway Station.
Once you reach Jaisalmer you can hire a cab or you can take your own car.
